Camogie Girls
Passing through Glenealy, Co Wicklow, Saturday morning last, and the village was bedecked with flags, effigies and posters wishing good luck to their two teams contesting the Camogie County Championship Finals - the Under 12 Championship against Knockananna, and the Senior Championship against Kiltegan - later that afternoon.
As this blog is global, I should perhaps explain that camogie is the fastest field game in the world played by women. It's a stick and ball game and almost identical to hurling which is played by men.
Click here for the Wicklow County Camogie website newly launched by Wicklow Camogie County Board. Now, unfortunately for the Glenealy girls and their followers, the results page on that website informs us that both teams lost! Double commiserations to Glenealy and, of course, congratulations to Knockananna and Kiltegan.
